The Global Money Week, is a money awareness celebration held amongst more than 100 countries. This year it was celebrated between the 14th and the 20th of March. The goal of this year’s Global Money Week was to teach children and youth about money, savings, creating livelihoods, gaining employment and becoming an entrepreneur through fun and interactive activities. Hence, through the program facilitated by HESC within the Department of Curriculum Management, the learners gained knowledge and understood the concept of personal finance. Students were encouraged to interact, reflect, think critically and express their opinions in order to make responsible financial choices. The program ‘Take Part, Save Smart’ targeted Year 7 students (10-11 year olds). The programme had a duration of 90 minutes. Activities included: answer the ball, needs and wants, budgeting, understanding financial related terms and a financial literacy board game.
