Staff at HESC accepts requests from food importers and manufacturers for the vetting of packed food products to ensure that they comply with the Nutrient Based Guidelines for Food and Drink Providers and the Food and Beverage Standards.

Market research is also normally carried out by HESC staff in order to keep abreast of the latest food products on the market.  HESC within the Department of Curriculum Management deems this process as an important one in order to update the existing database of nutritional information of different categories of food and beverage products items which are normally consumed at school. Market research is carried out on breakfast cereals, cereal bars, breakfast biscuits, milk drinks, cheese and yoghurts. This market research has also been used during the WHO Nutrient Profiling training session.
