The framework for the education strategy for Malta: 2014-2024 (Ministry for Education and Employment, 2014) highlights the importance of lifelong learning and adult learning. Furthermore, the National Curriculum Framework (Ministry for Education and Employment, 2012) holds that educators are encouraged to collaborate with parents and wider community to ensure meaningful and long lasting experiences. It promotes a vision where parents are considered important stakeholders in the educational journey of their children. Such a vision is implemented at the HESC. Besides hosting parents on premises, HESC staff facilitates other health related talks to parents. Common health misconceptions and difficulties encountered when planning and providing food for the family are addressed.
